Our Three Best Digital Food Scales to Buy in 2026
Whether you’re working in catering, food production or a professional kitchen, you need a digital food scale that can keep up with the grind. Which three do we recommend? Here’s our list.
1.   Light Duty - WS Compact Scales
If you need a simple portioning or ingredient scale, the WS Compact Scale has what you’re looking for.

Capacities and Readabilities
The WS series comes with your choice between three models with capacities between 3kg and 30kg, with readabilities between 0.5g and 1g.
Bacteria Resistant Pan
Its stainless-steel pan is resistant to bacteria and easy to clean when the occasional drip or splash happens.
Rechargeable
The WS compact scale isn’t tied to an outlet and it’s very lightweight, designed to be portable for wherever weighing takes you.
Counting Function
When it comes to the food industry, counting is a necessary but repetitive task. The WS offers a counting function to help pick up the pace. You can use this method to count identical pieces of cutlery, chocolate chips, marshmallows, sauce packets, cupcake liners – the possibilities are endless!
All in all, WS is a simple, easy to use digital food scale that’s ideal for many lighter tasks in the industry. You can’t go wrong!
2.   Moderate Duty - Aqua ABW-S Stainless Steel Waterproof Scale
If you’re looking for the next step up, we recommend the Aqua ABW-S Stainless Steel Waterproof Scale.

Capacities and Readabilities
The Aqua ABW-S offers four models with capacities spanning 4kg to 32kg and readabilities from 0.1g to 2g.
IP68 Rating
The Aqua ABW-S is IP68-rated for full protection against fine particles like flour and sugar as well as liquids like water or oil from getting inside and causing damage. And, if it does get messy or dirty throughout the day, it can be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water to prevent bacterial growth and cross contamination. Plus, thanks to ABW-S’s full stainless-steel housing, it’s less hospitable to bacteria and easier to sterilize and disinfect.
Front & Rear Displays
Sometimes you can’t supply a weighing scale to each individual who may need to use it throughout the day. Luckily, the Aqua ABW-S offers a display on both the front and rear of the scale. That way, two people can operate the scale simultaneously, each able to see the results on their own side of the table.
Checkweighing
The Aqua ABW-S offers a few functions beyond simple weighing, including checkweighing. Checkweighing lets you set high and low weight limits. When an item on the pan goes above or below those limits, hidden-until-needed indicators will light up on the display to notify you.
Checkweighing is extremely helpful for quality control tasks where the consistency of products matters. For example, if you’re a butcher selling to restaurants and they only want to accept cuts that are around 450g so they can charge the same price per plate. It may not be possible to get a 450g slice exactly every time, so checkweighing allows you to reject cuts that are higher or lower than acceptable. Plus, there’s less chance of cross contamination and bacteria growing because the scale can be thoroughly cleaned after every weighing session!
The Aqua ABW-S is an excellent mid-size digital food scale that can help make your weighing tasks more efficient, but if you’re looking to weigh large items, your choice would be the Gladiator.
3.   Heavy Duty - Gladiator Waterproof Scales

Adam’s Gladiator series is the right choice for businesses that are weighing large items, especially if you’re checkweighing frequently.
Capacities, Readabilities and Pan Sizes
The Gladiator series offers a wide range of capacities, readabilities and pan sizes.Â
- Capacities: 6kg - 300kg
- Readabilities: 0.2g - 0.05kg
-
Pan Sizes:
- 250x250mm
- 400x300mm
- 500x400mm
- 600x450mm
This lets you pick the best model for your facility based on a variety of influences!
IP68 Rating & Mounted Indicator
Just like the Aqua ABW-S, the Gladiator series is IP68-rated for full protection against dust and water ingress. Unlike the Aqua and the WS Compact Scales, the Gladiator offers a pillar-mounted indicator. Pillar mounting keeps the weighing results closer to eye level when used on a bench top and closer to waist level when used on the floor. For extra flexibility, by using an independent mounting bracket, you could even affix the indicator to a wall or other vertical surface.
Colour-Changing Display
While the Aqua ABW-S features hidden-until-needed light-up indicators for checkweighing, Gladiator doesn’t hide anything. When items above or below limits are placed on the pan, Gladiator’s whole display will flash either red or yellow. Gladiator makes an excellent choice for fast-paced, large-scale operations where results have to be known in the span of a glance, or out of the corner of an eye, while supervisors can monitor the results from a distance.
Trade Approval
If you price your goods by weight, you’re legally obligated to use an NRCS-approved weighing scale. Trade approval is an extra certification that proves the scale has been tested and deemed accurate and precise enough to be used for commercial purposes. The Gladiator Approved conveniently combines waterproofing and trade approval, to kill two birds with one stone.
