Weighing Scales for Education
Education scales and balances are convenient, easy to use weighing scales for use in school, college and university environments. Made with students and teachers in mind, our weighing scales for schools offer compact, portable weighing solutions for classroom experiments.
Types of education scales for schools include mechanical balances, pocket scales and compact balances for entry level and research out in the field. Meanwhile, advanced educational institutions such as colleges and universities may require more specialist education scales such as analytical or precision balances
Scaletec's education scales are simple, compact and robust scales that are designed for excessive, regular weighing. Many of our scales can be easily stacked and stored, without taking up loads of classroom space, whilst lock-down capabilities prevent scales from getting moved around or stolen.

Q: Which type of scale is best for classroom use?
This will depend on the education level, class size and applications required. We have included a brief list of things to consider when choosing the best scale for your classroom:
- Education level - If you are teaching younger students (e.g 7-10 years) then you will need to ensure that the equipment you are using is as safe and as easy to understand as possible. Therefore, scales with a simple weighing display, that are built to withstand accidental damage and do not require a power mains are recommended here. Older students (colleges and universities) may require more complex instruments for carrying out density detemination and osmosis experiments, therefore it is recommended that you select a scale that has these filter built-in.
- Class size - The size of your classroom is important to consider here, as you will need to ensure that you have multiple scales to include all students. In larger classes, cheaper scales are recommended to keep costs down, however you will also need to consider storage. Compact scales can usually be stacked and stored away easily in cupboards and science prep rooms.
- Applications - You will need to consider the applications you are looking for. If you are looking to weigh in percentages you will need a scale that offers percentage weighing, whereas if you are looking to check the weight of objects or count samples you would be best choosing a scale with parts counting and checkweighing features.
- Capacity - If you want to weigh books over 5kg you will need to ensure that your scale has a weighing capacity and pan size to tolerate this. We recommend buying a scale that has a slightly higher weight capacity than what you need here.
